Meet Susan

I'm a college graduate with a degree in English literature and education and a post graduate certification in the Montessori method of early childhood education.

I decided while student teaching that I enjoyed babies most of all, and I became a nanny.

I was a nanny for 6 years until I had my first child in 2002. Since becoming a nanny, I've had experience with many different families and parenting methods, as well as experience being a mom and dealing with the 24 hour nature of parenthood. I've used cloth diapers, swaddled, and breastfed my own children, and helped many families develop these skills and more!

In 2003, I joined a mentoring program for low income teenage moms, and I worked with a young woman from late in her pregnancy, through her birth, and until her daughter was two years old - that mom is now herself a postpartum doula!

I completed my Postpartum Doula certification at Natural Resources in San Francisco, CA. I have been working as a Doula for over 15 years. I am a member of the international organization DONA (Doulas of North America).

In 2010, I completed my Lactation Educator/Counselor certification through the University of California San Diego. After completing this certification, I taught prenatal breastfeeding classes and led new parent circles at Carmel Blue in North Beach until 2017. Every day I am grateful to learn more about how babies and families develop. I look forward to meeting you and your baby and helping you learn to be the best family you can be.
